Here is our 20th December question and answer for the Daily in December: Maths Puzzles and Problems series. Have fun talking to your children about this Christmas themed maths word problem.

Help Eve to work out which potatoes she should buy. Discuss with your child how you can compare the prices for 3kg by looking at both deals.

This question, or something similar, is one that is a ‘real life’ question type. It is something that your child may want to think more about to increase their calculation skills when they are thinking about how to spend their money wisely. It is a useful word problem type to practice.
