Here is our 4th December question and answer for the Daily in December: Maths Puzzles and Problems series. Have fun talking to your children about this Christmas themed maths word problem.

4th December – Sending Gifts Question

Help Jack to calculate how much money he needs to send the gifts to his family and friends. Discuss with your child how you can find out how much money each parcel costs to send and how much it costs to send all of the parcels.

This question, or something similar, is one that is a ‘real life’ question type. It is something that your child will need to know how to solve when they need to think about how much money it would cost to send parcels through the post. It is a useful word problem type to practice.
